Will TSP remove spray paint?

Somebody spray painted the inside of the kitchen cabinets in my new apartment, and I want to remove it because it is keeping my pretty floral contact paper from sticking. Can I use TSP to remove it?Will TSP remove spray paint?
TSP is used primarily in prepping for new paint, NOT the removal of paint. It removes the glossiness of paint and strips away any oily residue for a cleaner application of new paint.


You could try one cabinet with the TSP to see if it takes away enough of the glossiness so your contact paper will stick. But if you really must remove the paint all together, you may have to use chemical paint stripper. It is some nasty stuff though, wear lots of protective stuff (gloves goggles, have window open etc) Follow the directions.
